NTL TEAM OPTIMIST CLINIC

SOCIAL PROGRAM
Kigamboni Sailing Centre in collaboration with Hamisi, a qualified Optimist trainer have organized an intensive clinic for 5 days in Mjimwema Kigamboni from 16 December 2022 until 20 December 2022.

The main goals of the clinic were to give our little sailors the opportunity to live an experience in Kigamboni and to progress in sailing. Moreover, the presence of our sailors has been a good display of what sailing is about, attracting our children to this amazing sport.
The children who participate to the clinic are: Janet Philemon, Aaron Karani, Halima Karim, Mussa Mtulya, Ikran Abdalah, Hazadi Miraji, Abu Halife.

The participants enjoyed sleeping in the tents and practicing sailing all the five days together with the supervision of Hamisi the coach and the assistant practitioner Nassoro who followed the little sailors during the 5 days of the clinic.
All the sailors obtained a   TODA (Tanzania Optimist Dinghy Association) certificate of participation. Hamisi and the assistant Nassoro obtained the certificate as a trainer and assistant trainer. Kigamboni Sailing Centre has been awarded by TODA with a certificate for promoting Optimist Sailing in Tanzania by organizing a clinic at their facility.

We thank you to TODA and TSAA (Tanzania Sailing Association) for working with us and for promoting sailing in Tanzania. The president of Tanzania Sailing Association, Mr Philemon Kiwale, came to deliver the certificates to the participants and to all the stakeholders  involved in the organization of the Clinic.
We thank you Hamisi for your dedication and passion and for teaching to Tanzanian Children voluntarily and for being a role model for the future generation of sailing.
A special thanks to Joyce Chars Makunda for helping us to take care of the children during the activities out of the water from breakfast in the morning until bedtime.
We are grateful to Marzia Papa Castallo who has been supporting our project since 2021 making available a suitable space for camping with all the necessary facilities and security guard.
We thank Thomas and Giulia from Xkite a kitesurfing school located by Lake Garda in Italy for contributing  actively by collecting and transporting equipment for our little sailors such as  gloves, jackets and much more. They also made their experience and their know how on sailing available.

We thank all the stakeholders and people who believed in this project and proactively contributed to its success.
