UGANDA LASER OPEN 2023 - PAMOJA TUNAWEZA"
As a part of the main scope of Kigamboni Sailing Centre which is to promote sailing in Tanzania, we found important for our trainee sailors to find an opportunity to participate in an international competition like the Uganda Laser Open. Amongst our trainees we select the following sailors:
SHAMTE MAGONGO, MUSSA MAKAME, RAMADHANI ADAM, NASSORO MOHAMEDY and as a coach HALIPHE MPONDI.
Project founding: VELMA LAW – Dar Es Salaam - Tanzania.
To our greatest surprise our sailors performed well beyond our expectations.
SHAMTE MAGONGO - 1st Radial category - 8th Overall Result
MUSSA MAKAME - 1st 4.7 category - 22th Overall Result
RHAMADANI ADAM - 5th Radial category - 19th Overall Results
NASSORO MOHAMEDY - 7th Radial category - 23th Overall Results
For the first time in their lives our sailors have had the opportunity to travel abroad and to take part in a sailing competition outside Tanzania. They all enjoyed travelling and visiting Victoria Nyanza Sailing Club. They had an opportunity to share their experience with sailors from Uganda and Kenya broadening their knowledge about sailing. For Kigamboni Sailing Centre as a Club is the first competition outside Tanzania and we are all very pleased to see Kigamboni Sailing Centre in the top ten of the Overall Results Chart.
This is a great moment for us to assess the work done so far with our sailors and a strong encouragement to do even better in the future.A special thanks is going to Velma Law in the person of Mr Nicholas Zervos who has believed in Kigamboni Sailing Centre project since day one. We are grateful that on this occasion Mr Nicholas Zervos very generously promoted our mission in Uganda. For this reason, we felt the responsibility to do our best to represent Kigamboni Sailing Centre and Velma Law abroad.
